More info regarding our FC Minor Development (MD) Tier1 teams entering the Alliance Seeded League for the 2009-2010 season PDF Print E-mail

The Greater London Hockey Association (GLHA) is pleased to announce that we will be entering our Forest City Minor Development (MD) Tier1 teams from Minor Atom through Midget into the Alliance Seeded League for the 2009-2010 season.

This pilot project has been established to provide a variety of competition for the four (4) teams that will make up the GLHA Forest City Tier1 League next season. The Alliance Seeded League will see the Forest City Tier1 teams competing in the Bristol Division which is an A/AA classification with the possibility of competing for OHF Championships if successful in Alliance Seeded League Playoffs. The Forest City Tier1 teams will be LMHA/SouthSoutheast, Oakridge, North London and West London.

The Forest City Tier1 teams will participate in an Alliance sanctioned GLHA/ London Jr. Knights "Try-Out Progression".

The new Try-Out Progression format presents a major change from past Forest City try-outs and requires full adherence by parents and players. It is important that you clearly understand these changes at this time.

Try-Out Progression Terms of Reference
AAA Junior Knights.
AAA is to begin tryouts in August, 2009 (dates to be announced) with the exception of Midget AAA.

The GLHA/Forest City Seeded League Tier1 Try-Outs will be run by the Greater London Hockey Association immediately following AAA tryouts in mid August/09 (dates to be announced).  The London Jr. Knights AA Coaches will be in attendance at these tryouts to evaluate players.

The Try-out ice will be booked by the GLHA and costs will be determined by the GLHA.

Important: If you wish to play Seeded League Hockey in the City of London, A PLAYER MUST ATTEND THE TRY-OUTS REQUIRED.

The Try-outs will be comprised of two sessions - 1.5 hours each.
Following the two sessions, each player is to receive a letter directing them where to go next: AA try-outs with the Jr. Knights or MD try-outs with his or her home association.

Any player registered for Junior Knights tryouts must attend the AA tryouts.

The GLHA MD Tier1 team’s Head Coach only, may protect their son/daughter.

Any participant who declares themself a "GLHA Player" and fails to report to the two 1.5 hour seeded try-outs, renders themselves ineligible to play MD Tier1 or Seeded hockey and will not be able to participate as an affiliate to either the Jr. Knights or the GLHA MD teams.

Any participant who is invited to a AA Try-out and declares themselves a “GLHA Player” by declining the invitation will be ineligible to play MD Tier1 or Seeded hockey and will not be able to participate as an affiliate to either the Jr. Knights or the GLHA MD teams.

The GLHA is to resume try-outs after the Jr. Knights have selected their AA teams.  AA teams are to be selected prior to the Labour Day weekend.

Benefits of the Try-Out Progression to the GLHA
The GLHA runs our own try-outs with our own coaches.  The London Jr. Knights  coaches will be present to only evaluate and select participants for their try-outs.

Costs are dealt with by the GLHA.  Our Try-outs will be "user pay" with no profit to be generated from the Alliance Seeded League try-outs.

GLHA Forest City Tier1 and MD Try-outs
A player who is cut from the AA Try-outs returns to their local association's try-outs eg LMHA/SouthSoutheast, Oakridge, North London or West London
The Four entities return to their local ice-times and facilities for combined Forest City Tier1 and Tier11 try-outs after Labour Day Weekend (dates will be announced by GLHA associations).

Commencement of play
The Seeded League is scheduled to start play the weekend of September 19, 2009.

All coaches and trainers must be certified by September 30, 2009 in order to have their team rosters approved by the Alliance.

All questions are to be directed to your local GLHA Association.

We look forward to this process and working in co-operation with the London Junior Knights.
