Travel Permits ensure you and your players are properly covered by Hockey Canada insurance policies. Please read below.
Dennis Dawe (519-641-1518) will be
responsible for travel permits for the Oakrdige Hockey Association. Please coordinate through Dennis to ensure you have the required travel permit. This includes pre-season warm-up games!
Why do we need a travel permit?
According to Alliance rules, to play in an exhibition game or tournament, teams must FIRST receive approval from their home association. Further, each association has the responsibility to ensure that its teams play against Hockey Canada sanctioned teams.
Because participation against non-Hockey Canada and International Ice Hockey Federation sanctioned teams or unapproved travel may result in the forfeiture of Hockey Canada Insurance coverage and discipline to the respective team official(s).
Our insurance only covers you, your coaches or your players if it is a sanctioned event.
In order to expedite processing, please ensure the tournament sanction number is included with your request. This can usually be obtained from the tournament listings on the MHAO or OMHA websites.
The Alliance has two different forms available for travel permits.
For tournaments located in Alliance centres and for all exhibition games against any opponent (MHAO, OMHA, GTHL, USA hockey, etc.) use the Travel Permit form below (word document). Only electronic submissions of the form will be accepted. Do not provide a hard copy as they will not be processed.
Please ensure that all permit requests for exhibition games are submitted at least 48 hours prior to the game. For Alliance tournaments, please provide at least 7 days notice.
For tournaments, once a request has been received and approved, a signed copy of the form will be left in the locker at Oakridge Arena. As teams won’t require a hard copy of the form for exhibition games, you will be contacted via email.
Non-Alliance Hockey Canada-related Tournaments.
For all tournaments outside the Alliance, a special form is required. Please contact your VP to obtain the form at least two weeks prior to the tournament.
As we are charged by the Alliance for these, there is a $10.00 fee for each form, payable to the Oakridge Aeros Hockey Association which must be submitted when the form is picked up. Once the request has been approved, a signed copy will be left in the Oakridge arena locker.
Non-Alliance Non-Hockey Canada-related Tournaments.
Please note the following message from the Alliance regarding non-sanctioned hockey organizations. As they are not affiliated with Hockey Canada, our insurance doesn’t cover participation, no Alliance team can receive an approved travel permit for non-sanctioned tournaments or to play exhibition games against any teams from those associations.
