The Oakridge Aeros Minor Midget (96) hockey team beat Detroit Maroons 5-3 in the finals of the Motown Classic to capture the championship this past Sunday.

Oakridge went 4-0 in the tourney, scoring 19 goals for and allowing only 4 goals against, over four games.  The Aeros beat the Cambridge Hawks (5-0), Eagles JV (Orland Park, IL) (5-0), and Detroit (4-1) in the preliminary round.

This early bird tourney provided a good test for the Aeros, whose exhibition, tournament and regular season record year to date now stands at 5-1-1, a solid start to the season.o

On the weekend of November 25 to 27, 2011, the Major Bantam Seeded Oakridge Aeros went undefeated at the Motown Cup, winning five straight games with a close 2-1 win over Aurora in the final.  All players played well for the full 3 days and they were also able to enjoy "Saturday night at the Joe", watching the Detroit Red Wings defeat the Predators.  It was a fun weekend for the players and their families.

The Pee Wee MD Aeros had a great trip south of the border in early November taking part in the Motown Cup in Detroit,MI. The team went through the round robin undefeated beating Sarnia 6-0, tied Bowling Green, OH 2-2, beat Niagara, NY 3-1 to lose in the Finals vs Bowling Green, OH 5-3 in a tough game. The team played very well, especially as the team entered the tournament in the A division! Great Job Aeros!

During October 21-23 the Oakridge Aeros Major Novice A team played in the St Thomas Stars Major Novice tournament.

Three previous tournament championship Final appearances had resulted in an overtime loss, a shootout loss and a regulation time 2-1 loss.
